Participants will discuss the employer’s liability relationship with employees and the potential coverage pitfalls that can develop from that relationship. They will review the definitions of employment practices laws, federal and state laws, tort actions, as well as court decisions. They will examine workplace trends affecting employment practices today. They will discuss risk management treatment for these exposures including insurance policies and their provisions.
Changing World Emerging Exposures for Personal Lines
Emerging risks are newly developing or changing risks that are difficult to quantify, could have a major impact on insureds and the insurance industry, and appear to be evolving at an ever-quickening pace. In this session, participants will gain a better understanding of emerging risk exposures for personal vehicle sharing, home sharing, Trusts and LLCs, drones, fracking, boomerang kids, going green, and driverless autos. They will discuss coverage issues and gaps with traditional insurance policies and possible insurance solutions.
Ethical Principles - Everything Has Changed (Nothing Has Changed)
Agents will learn the professional, legal, and ethical responsibilities in dealing with the day-to-day realities of the complex, ethical issues of the insurance industry. They will be able to compare the difference between legal and ethical responsibilities and discuss the foundations of ethical behavior. They will review the core components of responsible agent conduct and better understand their duty to the customer, insurer, and peers. Agents will review the steps used in the ethical decision-making process and then apply them to real-life scenarios. They will discuss examples of improper conduct and how unethical behavior can create a breach in a legal requirement. They will also understand unfair business and claims practices model act provisions.
Cyber Issues & Answers
Nearly all commercial businesses have cyber exposures. New exposures and insurance coverages are changing and emerging rapidly. In this session, participants will gain a working knowledge of the terminology and concepts specific to cyber insurance, as well as discuss the need for Cyber Liability Coverage. They will discuss issues, such as: first-party and third-party exposures related to cyber risks, coverage limitations in standard liability policies, and major provisions commonly found in cyber liability insurance policies. They will look at insurance issues with Commercial General Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Directors and Officers Liability, Crime, and Professional Liability policies.
