OVERVIEW AND TOPICS
Commercial Property, Key Items To Understand
Commercial property insurance policies are fraught with a “minefield” of exclusions, limits, and conditions. Participants will identify some of the areas that could be most concerning to their insureds, especially after a loss has occurred, and examine ways to solve them. They will discuss significant issues regarding ordinance or law, additional covered property, additional building property, debris removal, pollutant clean up, rebuilding expenses following a disaster, property valuations, and loss settlements.
Technology Trends and Other Changes in Agribusiness and Insurance
So much has changed…this isn’t your daddy’s way of farming. In this session, participants look at what these changes mean to the farmer, and how they need to be considered and addressed by those insurance professionals working with these Ag accounts. They will review drone technology for farms and agribusinesses, the current regulatory environment, and the risk management and insurance challenges and opportunities. They will examine the current growth of the agritourism industry, its impact on traditional farm coverage, and the proper methods to manage the various risks including applicable insurance. They will learn about precision farming and understand the myriad issues surrounding its increased use. They will be able to distinguish between farm management and custom farming and examine the risk management and insurance implications of each.
Personal and Commercial Auto Issues
Using various case scenarios, participants will learn how the Personal Automobile Policy and Business Automobile Coverage form provide or exclude coverage for autos used in business and autos used for business and personal activities. Following this session, participants will be able to explain how coverage applies to individually owned autos used in business, autos used by partners, autos owned by small corporations, autos owned by corporations and leased to employees or principals, leased autos, and rented autos.
Personal Umbrella (and Excess Liability) Compendium
After an overview of this important insurance product, participants will be able to explain to their clients the need for Personal Umbrella (and Excess Liability) coverage, the primary functions of these policies, and the types of policies. They will examine the differences between a Personal Umbrella Policy, Excess Liability (Following Form) Policy, and a Hybrid Umbrella/Excess Policy, including general provisions and exclusions, and the relationship to primary insurance. They will discuss the underlying coverage requirements and coverage issues.
