OVERVIEW AND TOPICS
Indemnitee vs. Additional Insured – Which is Best?
This course will unlock the hidden meanings behind the terms 'indemnification' and 'indemnitee.' The participants will have a clear understanding that indemnification and insurance are two separate things. They will gain a clearer understanding of how the CGL's insured contract really works and how it can and cannot be used to finance typical contractual risk transfer requests.
Serving Your Client Through a Better Understanding of Commercial Property Insurance
Participants will examine the ISO Commercial Property Coverage Forms and various endorsements to consider for use when writing insurance policies for their commercial clients. They will identify potential coverage pitfalls found in different areas of property insurance, such as: insurance contracts and leases, coinsurance, personal property versus real property valuation, how to use blanket values, agreed value, functional valuation, debris removal, ordinance or law, spoilage, additional covered property, and more.
Insurance Valuation Problems
Participants will explore property valuation issues and discuss valuation problems with buildings, equipment, and inventory. They will review policy language and discuss the major valuation changes in the most recent Commercial Property filing. They will examine the alternative valuation options to change valuation to meet the client’s expectations and learn the proper way to handle reporting form issues.
Hidden Policy Coverages
Using case law interpretation of liability policies, participants will examine hidden coverages in both personal and commercial lines policies. They will understand who is insured under the PAP, employer’s liability and the CGL, host liquor liability and the CGL, auto coverage under the Homeowners and CGL, contractor’s liability coverage, and more. They will examine endorsements that should be considered to enhance coverage.
