Ariel Rivera | Bio

Ariel Rivera has been in the Insurance industry since 2004 when he began his career in the John Hancock's Career Agent Program. That same year he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences with a double mayor in Economics and Political Science from the University of Puerto Rico. He also became licensed in Life & Health and Property & Casualty. As part of his college education, in 2001 he attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA as a member of the National Student Exchange Program. Early in his career he became passionate for teaching and coaching insurance and started instructing new agents at different Agencies. While working in the insurance business and already an Independent Agent, in 2007 he obtained his Master's in Business Administration Degree (MBA) with a concentration in Finance from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. In 2008, Ariel earned his CIC designation and founded his own agency, Ariel Rivera & Asociados, Inc., specializing in Property & Casualty. His enthusiasm for insurance education helped him become a faculty member at the National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research. He teaches the CISR courses and is also an active member of the Educational Committee at the Professional Insurance Agents of Puerto Rico & The Caribbean (PIA of PR) Association. After many years of arduous work, he is currently a license broker in Florida and North Carolina, and his Agency manages over 2,500 clients from all lines of business. Since 2016 he serves as the National Director of Puerto Rico for the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA of PR). He actively participates in the Political Action Committee (PIAPAC) and in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) committee. As a National Director he has the opportunity of visiting Congress every year to analyze and review the impact of insurance legislation across the United States, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.
