OVERVIEW AND TOPICS


Participants will learn how court cases are disposed of in the United States from the insurance and risk management professional’s perspective. After an overview of the legal system as it relates to the insurance business, they will learn where to look to find basic information and how to identify legal issues that might arise. They will gain an understanding of how the declaratory judgment action and preliminary injunction intersect with insurance coverage and insurance business cases. They will conclude with a discussion to the trial and the alternatives to it.
Participants will gain a better understanding of aviation risks. They will learn the conceptual similarities between aviation risks and the everyday commercial risks of their clients. They will examine the basic aviation risks and the basic solutions to these unique risks. They will specifically discuss drones as to what they are and the challenges of insuring them. They will review the current state of coverage for drones under ISO forms both personal and commercial.
Take an in-depth look at specific coverages involving the ISO Commercial General Liability form, including premises and business operations, product and completed operations, contractual, contingent, and personal and advertising injury liability. Identify selected CGL exclusions and the impact on their clients. Learn how specific endorsements can amend policy provisions, add coverage, increase or decrease coverage limits, or restrict coverage. Examine the status of additional insured in the CGL Policy. Discuss who is an insured, why the additional insured endorsement may be needed, and the impact of the endorsement on the coverage.
Nearly all commercial businesses have cyber exposures. New exposures and insurance coverages are changing and emerging rapidly. In this session, participants will gain a working knowledge of the terminology and concepts specific to cyber insurance, as well as discuss the need for Cyber Liability Coverage. They will discuss issues, such as: first-party and third-party exposures related to cyber risks, coverage limitations in standard liability policies, and major provisions commonly found in cyber liability insurance policies. They will look at insurance issues with Commercial General Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Directors and Officers Liability, Crime, and Professional Liability policies.
