OVERVIEW AND TOPICS


Participants will learn the professional, legal, and ethical responsibilities in dealing with the day-to-day realities of the complex, ethical issues of the insurance industry. They will compare the difference between legal and ethical responsibilities and discuss the foundations of ethical behavior. They will review the core components of responsible agent conduct and better understand their duty to the customer, insurer, and peers. Examples of improper conduct will be used to demonstrate possible unethical behavior and how this can create a breach in a legal requirement. They will also understand unfair business and claims practices model act provisions.
After a brief review of the evolution of Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI), participants will examine EPL Insurance, learn about the joint employer exposure, and review the overall critical management liability insurance aspects. They will discuss the ways exclusions may be presented in the policy and identify difficult risks facing their clients. They will review policy coverages and be able to identify the advantages of one coverage form over another.
This session will provide an overview of current events and their impact on the insurance industry. The discussion includes how recent changes to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) as it relates to employer sponsored health insurance; the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and the Website Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and identify possible insurance solutions to their use.
