David A. Grunke | Bio
David Grunke is a speaker, coach, educator, project manager and employee benefit consultant at the Grunke Group, Inc. David has more than 40 years of health plan administration experience and has held management positions in claims, customer service, enrollment, provider contracting, marketing and sales. He gained his experience through employment at two major insurance companies, a pharmacy benefit manager, and a large independent insurance agency.
He has assisted companies as large as General Motors, Chrysler and Kimberly-Clark, Taft Hartley Trusts, employers as small as a 2-person chiropractic office, large blocks of individual insurance purchasers and numerous Trade Association plans.
David's undergraduate degree is in Business Administration and Finance from Marquette University, he also holds a Certificate in Sales Management from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, and is a graduate of the Certified Health Care Consultant (CHC) program at Purdue University and is a Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) and a Chartered Healthcare Consultant (ChHC) completing the courses of study from The American University in Pennsylvania.
He uses his diverse and expansive background and experiences to promote personnel and enterprise Sales & Retention Enablement via, profitable growth by design, managing the process and achieving balance.
David speaks on a number of "Health Care" topics including Federal Health Care Reform, Self- Funding of Employee Benefits, Prescription Utilization and Trends, Employee Benefit Management and Ethics.
He delivered multiple presentations to; the Wisconsin Association of Health Underwriters, the Independent Insurance Agents of Wisconsin, the Wisconsin SHRM Annual Conference, the Wisconsin Association of School Boards, Various Chambers of Commerce, the Professional Insurance Agents of Nebraska & Iowa, Wisconsin & Minnesota NAFIA, the Wisconsin Bankers Association and many Insurance Companies and Agencies.
In addition to his Consulting/Project Management practice, David is currently on the Board of Directors of the Latino Chamber of Commerce of Southwest Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Latino Economic Development Corp as a founding member and the organizations Vice-Chair. He is also a SCORE Certified Mentor volunteering with the Madison WI SCORE chapter.
Gloria J. Thompson | Bio
Gloria Thompson began her career in the insurance industry over 40 years ago and obtained her insurance agent's license in 1984. She earned her CIC designation in 2000. Gloria is currently employed by North Risk Partners as a Risk Advisor and enjoys the opportunities she has to mentor and collaborate with her fellow agents.
Gloria's passion for education and public speaking aligned her with the opportunity to instruct insurance courses. She has taught courses for several organizations, including the National Alliance's CISR program and Kaplan Professional Schools, as well as specific specialty topics written by her and presented at the MIIAB conventions. Gloria is a past board member for the National Alliance's CISR Board of Governors. Through her service on the Board of Governors she gained in depth knowledge of the CISR program, and watched the program evolve over her six years of service.
Currently, Gloria serves as the Education Chair for the Minnesota Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers, which serves as the oversight committee for the National Alliance's continuing education programs in Minnesota. Gloria appreciates the opportunities for mentoring, networking, and involvement in the insurance industry that these organizations provide. She is also a member of the Twin Cities Insurance Club and has been a guest speaker for various insurance topics for the organization over the years.
She was named Agent of the Year by the Minnesota Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers in 2014. Dan Riley, CEO of the association said, "Her professional experiences and her vast knowledge of the business have helped thousands of Minnesota agents become the best insurance professionals in the country."
Gloria completed her Educational Consultant training with the National Alliance in May of 2017, and now serves in that role on behalf of the MIIAB for Minnesota CIC and Rubles educational programs.
Richard G. Clarke | Bio
Dick Clarke is a veteran of the property/liability insurance industry, having worked as underwriter, broker and consultant through hard and soft market cycles. He was formerly Senior Vice President with the regional brokerage, J. Smith Lanier & Co. headquartered in Georgia, having retired late in 2016.
He publishes articles and teaches on a variety of executive liability, cyber and E&O subjects, and functions as an expert witness, a consultant to buyers of commercial insurance, and to insurance companies concerning product development. He is a teacher in CE programs for several professional insurance organizations. His books are listed for purchase on Amazon.com, with the most recent, Executive Liability Insurance: From the Basics to an Advanced Approach having entered its fifth edition in 2012. (This work is currently being updated, with a revised, sixth edition available late in 2019.) Additionally, this book was translated into Japanese for the Risk Management community in Japan, in 2013. Clarke provided content and editing for The National Alliance's on-line course on Directors and Officers Liability insurance (2015 to present), and was an original recipient of the CPCU Society's "Distinguished Instructor in Insurance" award, in 1996.
