OVERVIEW AND TOPICS

Agents will learn the hidden coverages and gaps, intended and unintended, found in the Commercial General Liability Policy. They will explore surprises that can broaden coverages or disadvantage their clients.
Participants will explore the types of losses created by First Party and Third Party exposures. They will examine insurance issues as they relate to general liability and property coverages and discuss specialty risk concerns. They will identify exposures and discuss possible solutions.
In this session, participants will understand ethical challenges that insurance professionals face, difference between legal and ethical responsibilities and their fiduciary duties and obligations to the customer, insurer, and peers.
Participants will learn the importance of business perpetuation planning for a small agency and how to protect the value of their businesses. By developing a workable succession/perpetuation plan, unique to their insurance agency, devastating results can be avoided, and the value of the agency maximized. Participants will identify the signs of a successful agency both financially and operationally. They will better understand why a perpetuation plan is critical to the success and survival of the agency and why the plan is important even to customers. They will examine the issues such as: objectives that influence the structure of the plan, triggering events for the plan, valuation of the agency using multiple techniques, tax issues, and funding options. Using a real-life example, they will discuss ways to tailor the succession/perpetuation plan to their specific needs and circumstances.
Participants will identify the “traps” and “gaps” in the ISO Business Auto Policy and learn ways to avoid them. They will examine BAP endorsements and discuss how they can amend policy provisions, add coverage, or restrict coverage. They will be able to determine how best to address their client’s needs to avoid the traps and gaps in coverage.
