Michael Elliott | Bio


Michael Elliott is a Business Insights Manager at Nationwide Insurance in Des Moines, Iowa. Michael began his career as a claims adjuster for many years, handling everything from minor parking lot accidents up to high-dollar construction defect claims. As a commercial bodily injury adjuster, he negotiated personal injury claims with some of the most prominent attorneys in the country. He has handled casualty claims across personal and commercial lines, specializing in general liability, business auto and farm owner’s liability. As an underwriter, he underwrote many standard commercial risks all over the United States. As a staff product manager, he wrote and implemented new policy forms and provided guidance to underwriters. Currently, he consults with the office of Strategic Analysis and Underwriting & Product Performance to create new future-forward products and set the strategic direction for Nationwide’s commercial underwriting organization. Michael holds a degree in English and Spanish. He is currently enrolled at Drake University Law School, where he is pursuing a law degree in Compliance & Risk Management. Michael earned his CIC designation in 2017 and has been teaching CISR courses for The National Alliance since 2019. He is also an active member at his local CPCU Society in Des Moines.
