Christine Nilsen Marciano | Bio

Christine Marciano is a Sales & Training Leader for WCF Insurance, a 103-year old work comp carrier. She was previously with Nationwide where her sales successes earned her a place at Conference of Champions for 2017 & 2018. With 16 years of industry experience, she has worked in Claims, Agent & Underwriter Training, and Sales. She currently manages a California territory for WCF. Christine travels nationally to work with agents, sales managers and underwriters, teaching coverage, communications and sales. As a seasoned conference speaker, she has been named twice by Training magazine as an Emerging Training Leader and is a published author. In 2014, she was honored with Nationwide's CEO Award.. She holds an Advanced Communicator Bronze from Toastmasters International. Christine is active in SITE (Society of Insurance Trainers & Educators) and is a faculty member of the Train the Trainer program, designed to educate insurance training professionals across the U.S. Christine has a Business degree from Oregon State University, received her CIC designation in 2007, and is working toward her CRM designation.

Cynthia Burleson | Bio

Cynthia Burleson is a lecturer and Director of the Center for Insurance and Risk Management at the University of Central Arkansas, located in Conway, Arkansas. The University of Central Arkansas is the only higher education institution in the state offering a BBA in Insurance and Risk Management. Cynthia teaches in the program as well as working to develop relevant course offerings and materials. Prior to coming to UCA, Cynthia was the Director of Compliance and Risk Management for PetFirst Healthcare LLC, a national pet insurance broker who recently was acquired by MetLife. In her tenure with PetFirst she was responsible for developing efficient processes for handling claims and licensing. Cynthia also worked with underwriters Munich Re, AIG, and IAIC to develop new pet insurance programs including working with an actuary firm to determine rating structure and with the underwriter to create appropriate forms. Cynthia was responsible for loss ratio estimation and presented at board meetings. Prior to joining the executive team at PetFirst Cynthia was a Regulatory Manager with Crum & Forster, Compliance Officer at American Management Corporation spending nine years specifically focused on insurance programs for the fuel marketing industry, and Brown & Brown Insurance as both a CSR and Commercial Lines Manager. Cynthia earned a Master's degree in Business Administration, and holds the AIDA, CRM, CPCU, CIC, ACP, and ACSR designations. She earned her CIC designation in 2001 and her CRM designation in 2017.

John F. Kitson | Bio

John Kitson is an independent insurance instructor and consultant. John has been a part of The National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research program for more than 20 years as a CISR and CIC instructor. He spent three years as the Director of Education for the Insurors of Tennessee. Prior to his position with the association, he was a Commercial Lines Underwriter/Manager for several insurance carriers. John began his career with Continental Insurance Company as a CBP underwriter. Following that, he spent a year with Crum & Forster as a Property/Package Underwriter. From there he went to work for AID Insurance (now part of Nationwide). Next in his travels was Home Insurance, (where he got to watch and see how the hard market really works). Finally, he joined St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance as a Commercial Underwriter. He also spent a year as a Surplus Lines Underwriter before being transferred to Nashville as the Commercial Underwriting Manager and Resident Manager. He has also worked directly with several insurance agencies in the area of education. Education has always been important to John. He passed the INS General Program in the first year of his insurance career. He attained the CPCU designation in 1983, the AU in 1992, the AIM in 1993, and his CIC designation in 2004. He has also served on the board of directors of the Mid-Tennessee CPCU Chapter.
