Casualty Issues Impacting Owners, Contractors and Subcontractors
Participants will identify casualty issues for the owner, contractor, and subcontractor client. They will examine the concept of contractual indemnification and be able to differentiate it from Additional Insured status. They will discuss issues regarding Primary and Non-Contributory – Umbrella/Excess Policies. They will learn about selected specific endorsements that change the coverage and terms of the Commercial General Liability policy.
What If the Lease Was Designed for the Insurance Policy?
Using a case study format, participants identify and examine the issues and problems when providing property insurance protection for an insured whose insurable interest is created through a lease or other form of “contractual” arrangement. They will discuss Tenant Improvements and Betterments, Rental Income, Waivers of Subrogation, Additional Insureds, and sample provisions for lease language.
Insuring the Cannabis Risks: The Opportunities
The trend toward mainstreaming and legitimizing marijuana will continue to have a significant impact on the insurance industry. Participants will explore the opportunities with insuring growers, dispensaries, and other segments of this rapidly growing market. They will discuss cannabis – what is it, how is it grown, harvesting, processing, transportation, and products – to learn how to identify insurable exposures to loss. They will learn how ISO and AAIS approach coverage for these unique risks.
The Invasion of the Drones!
Participants will gain a better understanding of aviation risks. They will learn the conceptual similarities between aviation risks and the everyday commercial risks of their clients. They will examine the basic aviation risks and the basic solutions to these unique risks. They will specifically discuss drones as to what they are and the challenges of insuring them. They will review the current state of coverage for drones under ISO forms both personal and commercial.
