My Home, My Vehicle, My Self: Huge Problems with Rental/Sharing Risks
Participants will analyze current issues encountered when writing homeowners and personal automobile coverages for owners of real and/or personal property who share it with or rent it to others. They will examine coverages and exclusions provided in the latest edition of the Homeowners Policy and Personal Automobile Coverage form, including the review of new and/or revised endorsements. They will discuss traditional home rental concerns for owners, traditional rental concerns for owners of condominiums, home-sharing concerns for the owner, home-sharing concerns for the renter, as well as other rental and sharing exposures. Using real-life scenarios, they will learn how the Homeowners policy provides or excludes coverage for these unique exposures. They will discuss the challenges with providing insurance coverage for ride/car sharing – Personal Vehicle Sharing Programs, Uber, Lyft, and similar programs. They will identify the exposures to the vehicle owner, driver, and passenger.
