Current Events and the Impact Upon Insurance
This session will provide an overview of current events and their impact on the insurance industry. The discussion includes how recent changes to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) as it relates to employer sponsored health insurance; the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and the Website Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and identify possible insurance solutions to their use.
D&O Insurance: A Dozen Dangerous Details
Participants will learn some of the common nuances of Directors and Officers Insurance coverage. They will review and better understand the various E&O exposures which confront the “average retail agent” in trying to handle the complexities of D&O Insurance.
Organizational Ethics
Participants will discuss the importance of ethical behavior. They will examine the professional, legal, and ethical responsibilities in dealing with the day-to-day realities of the complex, ethical issues of the insurance industry. They will discuss the key to ethical decision making.
Succession/Perpetuation Planning for the Small Agency
Participants will learn the importance of business perpetuation planning for a small agency and how to protect the value of their businesses. By developing a workable succession/perpetuation plan, unique to their insurance agency, devastating results can be avoided, and the value of the agency maximized. Participants will identify the signs of a successful agency both financially and operationally. They will better understand why a perpetuation plan is critical to the success and survival of the agency and why the plan is important even to customers. They will examine the issues such as: objectives that influence the structure of the plan, triggering events for the plan, valuation of the agency using multiple techniques, tax issues, and funding options. Using a real-life example, they will discuss ways to tailor the succession/perpetuation plan to their specific needs and circumstances.
Business Income...The Mystery Continues
In this session, participants take an in-depth look at the business income exposure. They review business continuation plans and learn the finer points of policy language and its effects on the insured. They will be able to explain the pros and cons of various endorsements, the use of the Extra Expense Coverage Form and the Leasehold Interest Coverage Form. Using a business income case study, participants will better understand catastrophe planning and be able to explain how Business Income Coverage, when properly designed, is critical to this process.
