Bob Ray | Bio


Bob Ray, a second generation insurance professional, has been employed in the insurance industry since 1973. A graduate of Jacksonville University, he has also completed insurance-related courses at Crawford & Company, Lumberman's Underwriting Alliance, and the National Institute of Occupational Safety & Health. Bob's career has spanned all aspects of the insurance industry. He began his career as a claims adjuster and property appraiser for Crawford & Company. In 1974, Universal Underwriters hired Bob to develop the Accident Prevention & OSHA Inspection Program for the Florida Automobile Dealers Association Self-Insurance Fund. While there, he served as Divisional Underwriting Manager for the Western Division and Divisional Executive Assistant for the Western & Southern Divisions. During this time, he co-authored "Unicover IV & V," a package policy developed exclusively for franchised automobile dealers. In 1987, Bob assisted in the creation of a new professional liability insurance carrier, RUMGER Insurance Company, later purchased by Great American Insurance Company. He authored their easy-to-read professional liability insurance policies - Pro-Law & Pro-Med for lawyers and physicians respectively. In June 1993, Bob joined National Risk Management & Associates. In addition to providing insurance products and services, Bob frequently testifies as an insurance expert in many states as well as federal courts. His clients have included the Orlando International Airport, Walt Disney's Epcot Center, Commercial Carrier Corp, Nichols Campbell & Morrow (NCM), and several insurance carriers and law firms. He has developed and drafted policy language and state filings for specialized markets including New & Used Car Dealers Package, eBusinessowners & eProfessional Liability, and Insurance Agents, Lawyers and Physicians Professional Liability policies.

Casey Roberts | Bio


Casey Roberts is the principal and founder of Laurus Insurance Consulting specializing in providing continuing education classes, sales coaching, sales management and expert witness work. Established in 2010, the name “Laurus” (Loris) was chosen with intent and purpose. Derived from Latin and meaning “victory” or “success”, Casey strives to make every interaction just that…a success/victory for all concerned. Prior to founding his consulting firm, Casey spent 34 years on the retail side of the insurance business as an agency owner, personal lines and commercial lines producer and sales manager. He has been teaching CE classes for some 25 years. He attained his CIC designation in 1989, his ACSR in 1992 and his AFIS in 2005. His past commitments to the industry include a stint as a director for the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of California, a director for the Agriculture and Farm Insurance Specialist (AFIS) designation, serving on his state’s agribusiness insurance committee, as well as working on the California Department of Insurance’s Curriculum board.

Kathryn Norris | Bio


Kate Norris is Managing Principal of Atténuer Risk. With over 20 years of industry experience, Kate focuses on risk and resiliency for families of exceptional wealth – specifically, family offices and advisory firms. She has an established track record working with family offices and is responsible for collaborating with them and their advisors to develop strategic risk management programs that go beyond the insurance policy. Based in Chicago, Kate brings in-depth knowledge of the insurance market both from a carrier perspective and from a broker perspective and puts that knowledge to work advising family offices, families of exceptional wealth and professional advisory firms. Kate is a recognized industry expert and has spoken at the PRMA Annual Forum, Assurex Partners Sales Conference, Elite RIA and Family Office Forum, San Francisco Family Office Forum, Guest Lecturer at the DePaul Driehause College of Business, Florida Insurance Agents Association Annual Conference and Heckerling Conference Luncheons. She will be a Guest Lecturer at Columbia Business School, Summer of 2021. Kate was featured in Resource Magazine’s article, Women Entrepreneurs in Insurance and Risk Management - Breaking the Mold. She has authored three white papers focusing on cybersecurity, employment liability and generational risks and has conducted over 100 educational sessions for various centers of influence and agency partners. Kate most recently worked as the VP, Family Office Practice Leader at Chubb Personal Risk Services. Prior to that she was an AVP, for Strategic Business Development – Family Office with ACE Private Risk Services, and the National family office practice leader at Fireman’s Fund Personal Insurance and held leadership roles at Hub International Insurance Brokers, Insurance Design Center, LLC, Family Office Exchange, LLC (FOX), and Bernstein Investment Research and Management. Kate is a licensed Property and Casualty broker in Illinois and holds a Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts and sciences from the University of Kansas. Kate serves on the Advisory Board of the Council for Insuring Private Clients & High Net-worth Individuals, is a board member at the Center for Insuring Private Clients and is the Membership Committee co-chair for the Personal Risk Management Association. Kate is a CPRM faculty member for the National Alliance having earned her CPRM designation in 2016. She also holds the CAPI, and CPRIA designations.

Mike Smith | Bio


Michael Smith is the co-founder and former President of Global Marine Insurance Agency, one of the largest marine only specialty agencies in the US who represent every major marine insurer. Mike's 38 year career focus has been as an agent and executive specialized in personal and commercial marine risks. Mike is a certified (CE) marine insurance instructor for Commercial Marine Insurance Professional (CMIP), Michigan Association of Insurance Agents (MAIA) and the National Marine Lenders Association (NMLA). Mike's career and boating background uniquely qualify him to instruct on the subject of yacht insurance. Mike began boating as a young boy and has owned or operated various boats of all sizes, both power and sail and has cruised extensively in the Great Lakes and the Caribbean. Mike served on the board of directors of the National Marine Lenders Association and is the past president of the local community sailing program; Traverse Area Community Sailing (TACS) and is a member of the Grand Traverse Yacht Club. Mikes passion for boats and his love of the water are revealed in each of his seminars along with his numerous "war stories" relating to yachting and insurance.

Patricia Myers | Bio


Trish Myers is Vice President, South Region, for Hagerty, a company dedicated to the car enthusiast lifestyle, headquartered in Traverse City, Michigan. Based in Tampa, Florida, Trish leads a team of territory managers across 11 states who are committed to cultivating the hobbyist culture and community while offering robust risk management solutions for collectors of all sizes. Trish joined Hagerty in 2019 with more than 15 years of high net worth industry experience as both the agent and the carrier. As an agent, she served as the National Practice Leader for Private Risk Management at USI. While working at USI, she led teams toward exceeding growth targets by providing risk management solutions, ongoing stewardship and lifestyle advice to individuals and family offices. Prior to USI, she led the high net worth producers in the south for Wells Fargo’s Private Risk Management team. The Wells Fargo team specialized in partnering with financial services partners in order to consult, design and deliver robust risk management advice and customized insurance solutions. As a carrier, Trish developed her expertise by teaching agents how to build their book of high net worth clients, understand and interpret insurance contracts, implement marketing strategies, and execute a balanced approach to delivering the service model. She held multiple positions during her 11 years at Chubb in appraisal, marketing, education and leadership. Her affinity for sales and marketing developed during her first career; 10 years at Xerox. She proudly achieved her CAPI designation from the Wharton School of Business in 2018 and is in the process of completing her CPRM designation in 2020.

William Kingsley | Bio


Bill Kingsley is a vice president in the Dallas office of AssuredPartners Aerospace, the largest general aviation brokerage in the US. He attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Aeronautical Science. Upon graduation from his undergraduate program at Embry-Riddle Bill joined the US Navy as a pilot. In addition to his military service, Bill has flown professionally, was a flight instructor in corporate aircraft and was briefly with a major airline prior to the 9/11 tragedy. He has approximately 2,000 hours of flight time and is a commercial pilot, with his multi-engine and Instrument ratings. He is a certified flight instructor, instrument flight instructor and multi-engine flight Instructor, and is typed rated in Citation business jets. Bill’s insurance career started as an underwriter trainee with a general aviation insurance company. Two years later he was promoted to Vice President and placed in charge of the company’s owner flown aircraft book of business, representing approximately 15% of all owner flown aircraft in the US until his next promotion to run the Company’s book of commercial aviation aircraft. Bill moved to the brokerage side of the aviation insurance business in 2002 and writes large commercial aviation accounts, including aircraft manufacturers, engine overhaul shops, fixed-based operators, university flight programs and helicopter air ambulance programs. In addition to his aviation degrees, Bill holds an MBA from Southern Methodist University, is a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter, has an Associate in Risk Management and is a Certified Aviation Insurance Professional. He also instructs aviation insurance classes on behalf of the Aviation Insurance Association.
