John Chapman | Bio


Chappy Chapman is Chief Growth Officer of Correll Insurance Group, a privately-held independent insurance agency with 25 offices throughout South Carolina, North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee. He also serves as Agency Manager of the Spartanburg, South Carolina Office and Senior Account Executive with Correll Insurance of Hilton Head, South Carolina. Prior to joining Correll, Chappy was an account executive with Riley & Associates, an independent insurance agency that has been in operation in the Charleston area since 1936. Before joining Riley & Associates, for six years, Chappy served as General Manager of White Insurance Group, an independent insurance agency with offices in Black Mountain and Arden, North Carolina. He began his insurance career in 1974, after graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of South Carolina. The majority of Chappy's experience has been in the Independent Agency System; however, he has spent time on the company side as Marketing Manager of Old Charleston Insurance Company and Branch Manager of Medical Mutual Insurance Company of North Carolina. Additionally, Chappy has served as Director of Education for the Independent Insurance Agents of South Carolina. He is a member of The National Alliance National Faculty and is an Educational Consultant of the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors. He earned his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in 1980 and he has also earned his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.

Michael Kersgard | Bio


Michael Kersgard is an independent P&C and L&H licensed agent in Texas. He most recently served as the Life and Health Academic Director for The National Alliance for more than 6 years, 2008 to 2014. In addition to being an independent agent, Michael continues to be a National Faculty Member, CISR instructor and Educational Consultant for The National Alliance. During his forty plus years working in the industry, his experience includes Life, Health, and Property & Casualty products in personal lines, commercial lines, and farm/agribusiness. Michael has been involved in a variety of functions including agent, marketing, sales management, and agent training. Through the years he has conducted new agent training schools, continuing education seminars, and license training schools.

Patrick Wraight | Bio


Patrick is director of Insurance Journal's Academy of Insurance, an online learning platform. He started his insurance career as a Commercial Underwriter for fire departments, home medical equipment dealers and other niche markets. During his time as an underwriter, he was asked to create a new underwriter training program to improve the overall skill of the underwriters within the company. Here, he learned the basics of curriculum development, creating learning paths, and making complex insurance simpler. While working for a large property insurer, Patrick taught insurance topics ranging from underwriting basics to understanding insurance policies to catastrophe claims orientation. Patrick has been a member of the CIC faculty since 2018 and CISR faculty since 2015. He earned his CISR designation in 2007, his CIC designation in 2011, and his CRM designation in 2016. He is currently actively working on his CPCU designation. Patrick writes a weekly blog on insurance coverage issues and other items of interest to the insurance community and is a contributor to other insurance blogs. In his current role, Patrick creates and teaches webinars on insurance coverage topics, including homeowners' and commercial property policies.
