Personal Lines Coverage Traps: Old and New
Participants will examine some personal lines coverage traps, found in the ISO Homeowners and Personal Automobile policies, that continue to confuse insureds, agents, and adjusters. They will discuss the ISO Homeowners Policy definition of business, the complex exclusion for motor vehicle liability, rental exposures, non-owned vehicles available for regular use, vehicles owned by family members, ride sharing, and vehicle sharing. They will learn about several emerging personal lines exposures and their potential coverage gaps, such as: increasing number of adult children living at home with a parent, pets, lavish parties for children, drones, home improvements, and more.
