OVERVIEW AND TOPICS

This course covers ISO’s 2025 revision to the Commercial General Liability (CGL) Policy. Insurance professionals will explore key updates to coverage forms, conditions, definitions, and endorsements—focusing on exclusions and clarifications related to data privacy, employment practices, electronic data, drones, EIFS, cannabis, AI, assault and battery, and punitive damages. The course includes analysis of case law and state statutes driving these changes, helping professionals interpret and apply the revised policy in practice. By course end, participants will be able to identify and explain the significance of new and revised endorsements, understand the rationale behind withdrawn exclusions and updated definitions, and apply insights from legal developments to coverage interpretation. This course equips professionals to navigate the evolving liability landscape with clarity and confidence.
In this 4-hour session, insurance professionals will learn who is covered as an insured under some of the most commonly written commercial insurance policies. They will learn which persons and entities are automatically covered by the insurance contract. They will examine the methods used to add coverage for others. They will discuss who is covered and who can be covered under Commercial Property, Business Auto, Workers Compensation, and Commercial General Liability (CGL) policies. They will review insurer proprietary endorsements that can be used to provide additional insured coverage under the CGL policy. They will explore the issue of primary and noncontributory coverage for additional insureds under both the CGL and Excess Liability policies.
Every insurance agency should establish coverage standards to better serve their clients. Coverage standards include needed coverages and endorsements and avoided endorsements. In this session, participants will review and examine the specific insurance provisions of the Commercial General Liability Policy, Business Auto Policy Coverage Form, Workers Compensation and Employers Liability Insurance Policy, Commercial Umbrella Liability Policy, Commercial Property Policy, and Commercial Crime Policy. They will discuss coverages provided in each policy, as well as endorsements that may be needed to further tailor coverages to the specific exposures.
This course empowers insurance professionals to analyze commercial property valuation and ordinance or law coverage, and tenants’ improvements and betterments (TIBs). Participants explore valuation methods, replacement cost, actual cash value, functional, market, stipulated, and limited—and their application to buildings and property. The course examines how statutes, regulations, and court decisions shape valuation practices and coverage gaps using ISO forms and endorsements. Key topics include ordinance or law exclusions, building codes, zoning laws, and their impact on coverage. The course also demystifies TIBs, including responsibility, lease implications, and solutions when TIBs are damaged or destroyed. Participants review ISO forms such as CP 00 10, CP 10 30, CP 00 30, CP 04 05, CP 14 01, CP 14 02, and CP 00 60. By course end, professionals will be able to evaluate policy language, assess exposures, and recommend tailored coverage strategies.
