OVERVIEW AND TOPICS
Personal Lines Case Study
Participants will analyze the exposure and coverage needs of individuals using a case study approach. They will gain a basic understanding of the risk management process. An individual’s insurance needs differ depending on their age and situations. Participants will identify and discuss exposures their client’s face in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, including engagement and marriage, purchasing a new home, business in the home, teenage children, domestic employees, and more. By looking at fact circumstances, participants will learn how the Homeowners and Personal Auto Policies respond to coverage circumstances. They will also understand which endorsements should be considered. This information will enable them to better protect their client’s exposures to loss using insurance and non-insurance options.
Focus on Commercial Property Conditions and Valuations
Participants will understand Commercial Property Issues associated with tenant’s improvements and betterments, ordinance or law, spoilage, and utility services. They will be able to define and explain improvements and betterments, how to determine their value, and how the client can insure his/her right to use them. Participants will identify the ordinance or law exposures unique to their clients and be able to explain the significant limitations in an unendorsed standard ISO Commercial Property Policy. They will review ways that the Ordinance or Law Coverage Endorsement can address these exposures. They will discuss spoilage exposures and the types of businesses susceptible to these losses. They will be able to explain how the Spoilage Coverage Endorsement addresses this loss. They will identify loss exposures covered under the Utility Services-Direct Damage Endorsement.
