Diane C. Masterson | Bio


Diane has 40 years of experience in the insurance industry. While in college, she started selling and servicing personal insurance through a direct writer. She then switched her focus to the independent carrier side. From there, the vast majority of her career has been spent in positions of underwriting, district sales management, supervision as well as corporate training in insurance contracts, sales, and management practices. Diane is the co-developer of the PaceSetter program at State Auto Insurance and has personally coached more than 1,000 new producers for more than 22 years. She began teaching as a faculty member for the National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research in 2013 where she lectures all over the country. Some of her classes include: sales management, carrier/agency relations, Ruble MEGA's, and will be expanding into CIC. Diane is currently an advisor to the business school within Columbus State Community College and has previously served as President of the Columbus CPCU chapter.

Geoffrey Gordon | Bio


Geoff Gordon has been the principal of Gordon Atlantic Insurance agency since 1987. Gordon Atlantic “Makes Insurance Make Sense” by focusing on risk first, providing commercial and personal insurance to businesses and families throughout Massachusetts. Gordon Atlantic has grown organically and through acquisitions and is now a member of the Alera Group. A prolific writer and recognized industry thought leader, Geoff has contributed articles to Banker & Tradesman, a real estate trade periodical, and served on the Quincy Patriot Ledger’s Board of Economic Advisors panel. He is a member of the Plymouth Rock Assurance Agents Advisory Council as well as the Bunker Hill Insurance Agents Advisory Council. Geoff has presented to the Financial Planning Association’s education series and guest teaches locally. Extending business risk concepts into managing risk in personal development, Geoff presented "Risk for a Rich Life" to a TEDx conference in 2016. Geoff obtained his Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation in 1985, the CIC designation in 1995, and his CRM designation in 2004.

Joseph Karl Sherrill | Bio


Karl Sherrill is a Consultant with Marsh & McLennan Agency (MMA) in their High Point, NC office. Karl serves as the Leader for the National Manufacturing Practice Group at MMA and manages their Private Education and Tuition Insurance programs. Prior to joining MMA, Karl worked over 20 years in manufacturing with specific experience in textiles, automotive, furniture, plastics, food and beverage, distribution/supply chain, and heavy machinery. He has specific training in team building, ISO Standards, OSHA Voluntary Courses, and Kaizen Continuous Improvement Instruction. His background provides unique insights into the risk that companies face and allows him to build innovative and forward-thinking risk management strategies for his clients. Karl is a respected lecturer having taught undergraduate and graduate courses in professional sales, sales management, business communication, and fundamentals of management. He enjoys speaking to various business groups regarding ethics, leadership, interpersonal relationship dynamics, and professional network building. Karl earned his CIC and CRM designations in 2013. Karl is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelors and Masters degree in Textile Management. He also earned his MBA from Elon University, where he received the Richard H. Behrman Most Outstanding MBA Graduate award. Karl was also inducted into the International Business School Honor Society of Beta Gamma Sigma. He served on the board for the Elon School of Business and was a founding member of both the Elon Chandler Professional Sales Center Board of Advisors and the Elon MBA Student-Alumni Board. Karl serves as a District Director on the Board of the Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina (IIANC) and is a past Chairperson for the NC Young Agents Committee of the IIANC. In 2011, Karl was selected as the North Carolina Young Agent of the Year. He also serves on the Legislative Committee for the IIANC where he spends time in Washington, DC meeting with legislators regarding insurance and business legislation. In the community, Karl serves on the advisory board for a local bank, held leadership roles in church and civic organizations. As an Eagle Scout, he remains active in his local troop.

Kathleen Fraley | Bio


Kathy Fraley retired as the Service Center Director for the Travelers Select Service Center located in Spokane, Washington and Colorado Springs, Colorado. Her teams were responsible for providing direct service to insureds and agents in all states. Kathy has spent more than 30 years in the agents and carrier ranks. Her career started in the underwriting side at a carrier and after 4 years moved to the agency side. Prior to joining Travelers, Kathy retired after 28 years as a partner/owner from Propel Insurance where she held the position of Vice President of Marketing and Commercial Operations located in the Pacific Northwest. Kathy developed a passion for the industry and feels it is important to give back to the industry by teaching. She has been a teacher in the Junior Achievement program and enjoyed working with students as they learned about community involvement. Kathy earned her CIC designation in 1987 and has previously served on the CISR Board of Governors. She also acts as an instructor and Education Consultant for various programs with The National Alliance.

William C. Toll | Bio


Bill Toll is President of Bill Toll & Associates, Inc., an organization specializing in insurance and risk management education and professional development, located in Austin, Texas. He is a National Faculty member for the Society of CIC, and serves as educational consultant at CIC Institutes, CRM Courses and Ruble Seminars across the country. Prior to forming his own firm, Bill worked with The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research, headquartered in Austin, Texas. There he was one of the developers of the Growth and Performance Standards (GPS) study which is now the leading source of benchmark agency performance data in the country. He continues to help with several areas of the work of The National Alliance, and the National Alliance Research Academy. Prior to joining Tthe National Alliance, Bill worked with Safeco and Fireman's Fund insurance companies, and through these two carriers, and the National Alliance, he has worked with hundreds of independent agencies throughout the United States in such areas as strategic planning, staff organization and stratification, producer compensation, workflow management, and general management. Both his agency and company experience provide unique perspectives to his present work in the field of education. He is proud to be developing and distributing information with immediate and practical value to insurance and risk management professionals. Bill earned a degree in finance and accounting, and received his CIC designation in 1984. 7/9/20
