OVERVIEW AND TOPICS

Participants will be able to explain the various ways to insure small businesses. Many times commercial coverages are overlooked because of the small size of the insured operations, but many accounts have the same significant exposures as large corporations. Participants will review the property, liability, automobile, workers compensation, umbrella/excess, and equipment breakdown coverages that small business owners need to consider.
Participants will analyze significant coverage issues associated with non-owned autos driven for personal use. They will identify the major types of non-owned autos and the exposures associated with each, including rental vehicles, borrowed vehicles, and vehicles furnished or available for regular use. Named driver coverage available from standard and specialty insurance companies will be discussed, including the potential coverage disadvantages for both the client and vehicle owners.
