Brian McSherry | Bio

Brian McSherry is Vice President of Agents Insurance Services, Inc., the for-profit subsidiary of the Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois (IIA of IL). In his position, Brian is responsible for all products and services provided to the members of IIA of IL. Prior to working for the IIA of IL, Brian owned and operated McSherry Agency, Inc., a retail property, casualty and agri business insurance agency. Brian also owned and operated a second retail insurance agency specializing in the Federal Crop Insurance Program. After 38 years, both agencies were sold in 2016. Throughout his career, Brian has been active in insurance industry professional associations at the local, state, and national level. He served the state association from a young agent to President in 2004 and received the IIA of IL’s highest honor, the Charles M. Cartwright Award for meritorious service to the industry. Brian also served as National Director for Illinois on the Big “I” board, as well as, chairing the National Crop Insurance task force. He has testified before the House of Representatives Committee on Agriculture and the Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities and Risk Management on the role of Independent Agents and the impact of commission caps on the delivery system. As a result of his work on the Crop task force Brian was given the Sidney O. Smith Award, the highest honor in government affairs that the IIABA bestows. Brian earned a degree in business and marketing and received his CIC designation in 2001.

Jay Williams | Bio

Jay Williams is the Director of Faculty Development for The National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research. He is also a member of the National Faculty and an Educational Consultant. He is a veteran of the insurance industry, starting his career in 1979. His experience includes 21 years in the agency business, nine years at the Florida Association of Insurance Agents, and seven years as an insurance company and PEO executive. Jay also served as the interim CEO for Applied Client Network, the user-group association for agents using Applied Systems platforms and was the CEO of FHB Insurance, a construction risk wholesaler and a subsidiary of the Florida Home Builders Association. Jay has been teaching formal insurance classes for over 20 years, including both technical insurance and E&O loss control classes for FAIA. He was part of the IIABA Loss Control Working Group for 5 years and also served on the Professional Liability Committee. Jay has served as an expert witness in technical coverage and agent E&O cases. He is an approved E&O instructor and E&O auditor for a national program and has also done consulting for agencies, companies, and industry-related partners. His experience on the agency, association, and company sides gives Jay a uniquely rounded perspective on the insurance industry.

Kevin Brady | Bio

Kevin Brady is a Regional Director for ARTEX Risk Solutions; a division of Arthur J. Gallagher Co. from Rolling Meadows, Illinois. He specializes in the development, implementation and marketing of group, rent, segregated cell, single parent captives and program business.

Kevin's career spans captive and self-insured group workers compensation program development/management as well as retail brokerage. Kevin earned his CIC designation in 1988. He is a member of the National Faculty of the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors, speaking at Casualty Institutes and James K Ruble Seminars. He is a contributing author to The National Alliance for Producer Studies publications as well as a National Faculty member of the Certified Risk Managers (CRM) program speaking in the Finance section. He has been a featured speaker across the country and Puerto Rico on captive development, risk financing and insurance coverage topics. Kevin has also served on the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors Board of Governors for nine years, one as its Chairman.
