John Chapman | Bio
Chappy Chapman is Chief Growth Officer of Correll Insurance Group, a privately-held independent insurance agency with 25 offices throughout South Carolina, North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee. He also serves as Agency Manager of the Spartanburg, South Carolina Office and Senior Account Executive with Correll Insurance of Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Prior to joining Correll, Chappy was an account executive with Riley & Associates, an independent insurance agency that has been in operation in the Charleston area since 1936. Before joining Riley & Associates, for six years, Chappy served as General Manager of White Insurance Group, an independent insurance agency with offices in Black Mountain and Arden, North Carolina.
He began his insurance career in 1974, after graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of South Carolina. The majority of Chappy's experience has been in the Independent Agency System; however, he has spent time on the company side as Marketing Manager of Old Charleston Insurance Company and Branch Manager of Medical Mutual Insurance Company of North Carolina.
Additionally, Chappy has served as Director of Education for the Independent Insurance Agents of South Carolina. He is a member of The National Alliance National Faculty and is an Educational Consultant of the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors. He earned his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in 1980 and he has also earned his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
John Kitson | Bio
John Kitson is an independent insurance instructor and consultant. John has been a part of The National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research program for more than 20 years as a CISR and CIC instructor. He spent three years as the Director of Education for the Insurors of Tennessee. Prior to his position with the association, he was a Commercial Lines Underwriter/Manager for several insurance carriers. John began his career with Continental Insurance Company as a CBP underwriter. Following that, he spent a year with Crum & Forster as a Property/Package Underwriter. From there he went to work for AID Insurance (now part of Nationwide). Next in his travels was Home Insurance, (where he got to watch and see how the hard market really works). Finally, he joined St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance as a Commercial Underwriter. He also spent a year as a Surplus Lines Underwriter before being transferred to Nashville as the Commercial Underwriting Manager and Resident Manager. He has also worked directly with several insurance agencies in the area of education.
Education has always been important to John. He passed the INS General Program in the first year of his insurance career. He attained the CPCU designation in 1983, the AU in 1992, the AIM in 1993, and his CIC designation in 2004. He has also served on the board of directors of the Mid-Tennessee CPCU Chapter.
