Homeowners Tricks and Traps
Participants will analyze common issues encountered when writing homeowners coverages. They will examine coverages and exclusions provided in the latest edition of the Homeowners Policy. They will discuss how the HO policy provides or excludes coverage for exposures, such as: other structures on premises, rental property, miscellaneous vehicles, children at school, watercraft, high-value collections, and in-home businesses. They will identify the tricks and traps, discuss ways to close the coverage gaps using endorsements, and examine possible solutions to better serve their clients.
Hidden Policy Coverages
Using case law interpretation of liability policies, participants will examine hidden coverages in both personal and commercial lines policies. They will understand who is insured under the PAP, employer’s liability and the CGL, host liquor liability and the CGL, auto coverage under the Homeowners and CGL, contractor’s liability coverage, and more. They will examine endorsements that should be considered to enhance coverage.
Business Auto Policy Endorsements Why and Why Not
Participants will take an in-depth look at endorsements that modify the Business Automobile Coverage form. They will learn how specific endorsements can amend policy provisions, add coverage, or restrict coverage.
Risk Control for Employment-Related Practices
Participants will discuss the employer’s liability relationship with employees and the potential coverage pitfalls that can develop from that relationship. They will review the definitions of employment practices laws, federal and state laws, tort actions, as well as court decisions. They will examine workplace trends affecting employment practices today. They will discuss risk management treatment for these exposures including insurance policies and their provisions.
