OVERVIEW AND TOPICS

Participants will examine the ISO Commercial Property Coverage Forms and various endorsements to consider for use when writing insurance policies for their commercial clients. They will identify potential coverage pitfalls found in different areas of property insurance, such as: insurance contracts and leases, coinsurance, personal property versus real property valuation, how to use blanket values, agreed value, functional valuation, debris removal, ordinance or law, spoilage, additional covered property, and more.
Clients are always signing contracts, but do they really know what's in them? In this session, examine the best way to assist your clients in negotiating contracts to best transfer risk where appropriate. Discuss various categories of indemnity agreements and the use of Hold Harmless provisions. Identify potential problems when working on specifications calling for contractual liability insurance and how to avoid potential problems when arranging both contractual liability and additional insured status.
Participants will review the background of the traditional “at-will” doctrine and statutory legal requirements, the major federal employment-related laws, and major state statutes, with an emphasis on the small business with less than 100 employees. They will examine basic unlawful discrimination exposures and the scope of regulation, and review how to manage these exposures. They will examine an EPLI policy and discuss how to provide proper coverage for their clients.
Insurance professionals will review Federal and State environmental laws and learn how they impact their insureds’ liability exposure. They will identify environmental hazards faced by agricultural businesses, educational institutions, contractors, environmental service providers, food industry, manufacturers, medical facilities, municipalities, developers, transporters, and more. They will examine how environmental liability insurance can fill gaps in standard property and casualty insurance to cover these exposures to loss. In addition, agents will discuss the steps and materials needed to successfully place the best coverage for their client with environmental insurance carriers.
Join in this session and learn how various insurance and non-insurance risk transfer tools and techniques can be used to manage and transfer their client’s environmental exposures. We will discuss the overlooked benefits of Environmental Liability Insurance and review coverages provided in various ELI policies.
In this session, participants will understand ethical challenges that insurance professionals face, difference between legal and ethical responsibilities and their fiduciary duties and obligations to the customer, insurer, and peers.
